Description

This detailed pocket map of Minneapolis, Minnesota was published locally around 1936 by Gile Letter Service on behalf of Thorpe Brothers, Inc. The latter was a local real estate company founded by Samuel Thorpe, Sr. and his brother in 1885. Thorpe would play a pivotal role in the development of the city, and served as the second president of the National Board of Realtors.

The map shows in great detail the myriad of transportation routes available to the traveler in the mid-1930’s. Streets, points of interest, geographic features, and important buildings are individually labeled. The verso features a large scale map of the Minneapolis Loop and insets of two subdivisions; the Thorpe Brothers Country Club District and the Wooddale Country Club District.
