Description
This detailed map of India and Burma (today’s Myanmar) was published in London by John Murray in 1924. Vibrant printed color outlines territory directly controlled by the British Crown (pink), ‘Native Feudatory and Protected States'(yellow), and independent nations/European coastal enclaves (orange). Railways, both completed and under construction, are shown – these avenues for material and personnel transport were vital to maintaining British control over the massive territory, extending far north into Kashmir.
