Originally designed locally by a city engineer and updated to 1940, this basic city plan of New Brunswick, New Jersey shows the city and adjacent townships on the banks of the Raritan River. Prominent transportation routes, geographic features, and a handful of important buildings are individually labeled.

This particular copy has been customized for use in the Central Engineering Department of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The original map was updated to feature the location of passenger and freight stations throughout the city, then reprinted, dissected, and mounted on linen for preservation and convenient storage.
