The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is Warner Brothers Entertainment a film released in 2012 based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s popular 1937 novel. It follows the story of Bilbo Baggins as he accompanies the party of Thorin Oakenshield to their homeland, the Lonely Mountain, which they aim to recapture from a dragon named Smaug.

This promotional map was given to attendees of the film’s premiere, probably in Beijing, based on text on the verso. Various landmarks are illustrated and labeled in runic script, with a special note identifying the secret door that was to allow the party access into the mountain.
