Description

This eye-catching view of New York City is oriented slightly askew so as to maximize the perspective afforded to the breathtaking skyline. Lower Manhattan dominates the foreground with One World Trade Center (noted as opening in 2013) standing tallest amid the cluster of skyscrapers. A second bunch of towers is illustrated in Midtown, anchored by the iconic Chrysler Building and Empire State Building.

The city’s distinctive brides are well-represented, as well as lesser-known businesses and historic sites. The verso includes a similarly designed map of Manhattan oriented with east at the top, so as to provide a more ‘vertically equitable’ view of the island.

The distinctive cartoon style is a hallmark of the Ontario, Canada-based Unique Media, Inc. Starting in the late 1970s, the company created a number of maps with a similar aesthetic of locations across the United States and continues to do so to this day.
