Description
Between 1931 and 1954, Lum and Abner (played by Chester Lauck and Norris Goff) recorded nearly 5,000 episodes of their comedy radio program, each ranging in length between 15 and 30 minutes. The show’s popularity allowed the duo to branch out into filmmaking, the first of which was released in 1940.
This pictorial map was drawn by Dewey Prolestino and issued in the 1938 edition of Lum and Abner’s ‘Adventures in Hollywood’, sponsored by Horlick’s Malted Milk Corporation.
It’s possible the map is a foreshadowing of the upcoming film release. In any case, it certainly presents an interesting commentary on the chaos, drama, and splendor of Hollywood.
