Description

This well-used blueprint plan was designed in April of 1929 by engineer S.B. Browne of Mineola, New York. Issued at a scale of 1″ to 600′, the image offers a detailed snapshot of the water distribution system of Locust Valley, a community on the northern shore of Long Island.

Within the outlined water district, a number of pump stations, pipes, valves, and other necessary infrastructure components are labeled. Transportation routes, village boundaries, notable property owners, and geographic features are also identified.

An inset in the lower left shows an extended area to the east, in Mill Neck (incorporated as a village in 1925). The region was rapidly developing at the time of publication, hence the numerous updates noted in the lower right corner.

Scarce, with no entries noted in OCLC or other online databases.
