Description
This simple, but effective, pictorial map of Yellowstone National Park was drawn by William Burgess in March, 1941 and published in Livingstone, MT by the local Chamber of Commerce. Issued to promote tourism to the region, the brochure emphasizes its natural beauty, incredible wildlife, and Wild West pursuits like the Livingstone Roundup.
The map identifies transportation routes, locations of interest, park service facilities, and historic sites according to the legend in the lower left. Additional photographs and descriptive text on the verso assure the audience, “You Will Enjoy Your Stay in Livingstone-Gardiner Area.” A second map, focused entirely on Yellowstone, can also be seen on the verso.
