Description
This road map of Los Angeles County is an excellent example of how the freeway system completely changed the demographics of the region. Many of today’s crowded interstates are shown as dotted lines, reflecting proposed construction and decades of future development. Dotted throughout are numerous locations of interest and attractions, including Marineland, the La Brea Fossil Pits, the Rose Bowl, Wrigley Field (not the Chicago one), and Exposition Park.
The last is home to the Los Angeles Coliseum, the temporary home of the Dodgers, who played their first season in L.A. the same year as publication. Printed in Los Angeles in 1958 by Bekins Van & Storage Company. Office locations are noted throughout the image and several advertisements for the firm’s services can be seen on the verso.
