Description

This scarce broadsheet was issued to advertise the sale of available plots of land in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood (part of North Edgewater at the time of publication). Red pencil presumably marks those lots already sold within an area bounded by Lincoln, Peterson, Hood, and North Sacramento Avenues. Nearby streetcar and bus lines (both proposed) are shown to encourage potential buyers, with terms and conditions briefly described at the bottom of the page.

The blueprint map was drawn in December of 1923 by G.I. Silander on behalf of the real estate firm of Krenn & Dato. At the time of publication, the company was exclusive partners with Edith Rockefeller, who was recently divorced and looking to make a splash in the male-dominated industry of real estate development. The partnership began in 1922 and would develop into a hugely successful enterprise until the Stock Market Crash of 1929.
