Description

Make no mistake, this is NOT the Kokomo crooned over by the Beach Boys in their 1988 hit song. Kokomo, Indiana is a real place (there is no Kokomo in Florida) that was first incorporated as a town in 1855. It’s situated about 60 miles north of Indianapolis and is named after a local Miami Indian chief.

This illustrated bird’s eye view of the city was illustrated by Archar, Inc. and published locally by Caricature Maps, Inc. in 1977. A charming mix of local businesses, recreational opportunities, and historic information is presented within the image. Caricature figures are also shown in a variety of amusing situations and conversations.
