This vibrant map of Key West, Florida presents a fascinating snapshot of the island shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War. A precise street grid includes over seventy numbered locations identified in the surrounding negative space. Restaurants, hotels, parks, golf courses, and public buildings are all included.

Accompanying text praising The Past, the Present, and the Future of Key West is also available, with the last including a small inset map highlighting the island’s strategic geographic location in the Western Hemisphere. The past is also referenced with a pirate flag, sailing ships, and banners representing the five civilizations which have left their mark on the island; the English, French, Spanish, Indians, and Mayans. Other illustrations include local flora and fauna, providing a distinctly tropical vibe.

The map was designed, executed, and produced in Cleveland, Ohio by Arthur Suchy. This is the second example, printed in red. The first edition was limited to 100 copies and had full hand color.
