Description
This scarce collection of handwritten documents appears to offer a wealth of information about a Japanese anti-aircraft unit, possibly part of the 59th Army, stationed in the Chugoku province of Japan.
The large primary map, titled approximately ‘An Example of Ground-Breaking Construction of Anti-Aircraft Artillery Force’ shows topographic details, trenches, ammunition depots, and the disposition of different types of weaponry. A second map, written on both sides, provides a high-level overview of the unit positioning and building outlines. A third manuscript presents step-by-step instructions for operating an unknown motor vehicle – most likely a truck used in the transportation of the unit.

Condition Description: Collection of three handwritten sheets in Japanese, two of which show maps (one double-sided) and one of text. Largest measures approximately 9" x 12". Heavy wear including partial loss, edge tears, and staining. Old tape repairs in a few locations. Fair, but legible, condition for a rare group of material.
