This straightforward plan presents Jackson Park, encompassing about 550 acres on Chicago’s South Side. A variety of features and points of interest are identified in the accompanying key. Notable entries include the Museum of Science and Industry, La Rabida Children’s Hospital, and the Japanese Garden – one of the few physical remnants of the Columbian Exposition held at Jackson Park in 1893. Text on the verso provides a chronology of the park and offers further details on the World’s Fair.

The map was designed by Roland Lennix, Jr., a member of the Chicago State University Cartography Center. Published in 1986 by Friends of the Parks, with support by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs Office of Tourism and local businesses.
