Description
This map of Italy was illustrated by the renowned Russian painter Vsevolod Petrovic Nicouline. It shows the various regions of Italy with each respective flag depicted as a coat of arms. The dramatic black background, decorative elements and gold/silver heightened border makes for a very attractive 20th century map of the country.
This is the larger of two sizes of map designed by Professor Giovanni de Agostini for inclusion in his volume Imago Italia, published in 1939. Other sheets from the same publication are available here.
