$119.00
Delicately engraved map of the vast Pacific Ocean.

Description
Touches of outline color, sharply contrasting topographic detail and finely engraved lines give this map of the Pacific Ocean a clean look of professionalism; typical of the London-based firm of A.K. Johnston. Interior details on the continental landmasses are sparse, save for prominent mountain ranges, and primary attention is given to labeling the dozens of Pacific Islands mapped as a result of European exploration between the 16th – 19th centuries.
The location of Cook’s death in Hawaii and the wreck of La Perouse in the Queen Charlotte Islands are both noted.
