Prewar tourist map of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Description
This interesting map of Hawaii’s largest island highlights it’s heavy reliance on agriculture prior to the waves of tourism that would forever change its landscape. Simple topographic detail is restricted to the highest mountains and ranges, while dated outlines reflect historic (and recent) lava flows. Roads are relatively limited, especially in the interior, and an accompanying list of locations with hotels is quite short – only 8 in total.
The map was compiled for the Hawaii Tourist Bureau by David Awana in December of 1925. Printed the following year in Honolulu by The Advertiser Publishing Co., Ltd.
