Description
The Assyrian Empire can be seen covering much of the area from modern day Turkey to the Indus River on this map, issued in 1728 by Phillipe Buache. Although it’s unlikely to have administered the entire geographic expanse at any one particular time, the Mesopotamian kingdom remaining a significant political entity in the ancient world between ~2100 and ~650 BC.
The map shows cities of all sizes, trade routes, and names of particular regions and geographic features. It was based on a work created by Buache’s predecessor, Guillame Delisle, who is duly credited under the title.
