Description

This detailed guide to the 1933 Century of Progress provides a fascinating firsthand experience of the second World’s Fair held in Chicago. Sixteen pages of photographs are accompanied by short summaries describing each exhibit, vendor, transportation option, and restaurant

. Though the theme of the fair was on technological progress and development, a wide variety of subject material is included within the pages. Tropical huts in Puerto Rico and a Native American village are juxtaposed against the futuristic Chrysler Motors Exhibit and Owens Glass Block Building. The latest in industrial development was on display, and one notable exhibit invites the public to throw baseballs at Safety Glass.

The booklet also includes a magnificent photographic panorama of the fairgrounds by Harry Koss. The verso provides a detailed outline of the same, with the majority of buildings individually labeled.
