Description
This attractive and uncommon trio of maps covers the popular recreational area of the Chain O’ Lakes region in northern Illinois. They were originally published in Springfield by the Division of Waterways, part of the state’s Department of Public Works and Buildings, in 1956.
A ‘Vicinity Map’ on each sheet offers further context on its respective coverage and the geography of the region. Intended as a boating reference, the maps show navigational markers, dredged channels, launches, lowlands, depth soundings, and coastal topography. Fox Lake, Grass Lake, Pistakee Lake, Petite Lake, Nippersink Lake, and portions of the Fox River are all included.
