Description
This attractive map of the British Isles uses bright lithographic color to distinguish between Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. The complex network of railroads are boldly emphasized across the image (with a notable concentration across Britain) and topography is depicted with finely engraved hachure. Counties, towns, and prominent geographic features are named in French.
An inset map in the upper right shows the Shetland Islands, otherwise cut off from the top of the page. The lower left shows a marvelous view of London. St. Paul’s Cathedral dominates the skyline with the River Thames and Blackfriar’s Bridge in the foreground. The map was published in Paris by J. Migeon around 1890.
