Description

This composite image was published anonymously, probably in September of 1945 according to a printer’s code in the lower right corner. It highlights the major accomplishments of the III Armored Corps in the European Theater during World War II.

Three maps of major engagements are shown; subtitled Battle of the Bulge, Roer and Rhine River Phases, and Ruhr Pocket and Drive to Austrian Border. Each plan is presented at a scale of 1:400,000 and uses red, blue, and black printed colors to distinguish various elements like unit dispositions, lines of advance, and geographic features. Additional context is provided by several annotations, such as those American units surrounded by Germans in Bastogne.
