Description

As casualties mounted in overseas campaigns from North Africa to Italy, the U.S. Army realized that huge numbers of replacement troops would be necessary. They created Infantry Replacement Training Centers (IRTC) across the United States and distributed this booklet to new enlistees.

It covers basic information regarding infantry responsibility including various roles (mechanic, gunner, communications), regulations and training operations. Inspirational quotes from generals and correspondents scattered throughout.

The book is signed by a previous owner, Pvt. Joseph W. Confer and includes a number of his classmates autographs in the section at the back.
