Description
This interesting tourist brochure presents an engaging view of Rome, looking southeast towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. Dozens of iconic monuments and important buildings across the Eternal City are illustrated and labeled, with the River Tiber bisecting the image in a thin blue strip. Attractions in the surrounding area include Villa Savoia, Foro Italico, and Pineta di Castel Fusano on the coast.
The view was originally illustrated by A. Marendino in 1927, just a few years after the March on Rome installed Mussolini into power (1922) and the first year of operation for the Compagnia Italiana Turismo (CIT). This example was published by the Italian state-sponsored travel agency thirty years later, in 1957.
