Description

This helpful double sided card provides the motorist nearly everything they need to access the Hotel Federal in San Francisco from almost any part of California. One side depicts simplified strip maps showing primary routes (including the Pacific Coast Highway) to the Golden City from Los Angeles, Reno, Medford and Grant’s Pass.

The opposite side presents a bird’s eye view of downtown San Francisco, with the aforementioned routes into the city highlighted in red. Places of interest and low rates are advertised, and potential customers are advised to “come as you are.”

The map presents a city population of 762,036, which it would not attain until at least the 1950’s, so it’s possible the publication date is later, but the absence of the Golden Gate Bridge is a telling sign it was printed prior to 1933.
