Description

This delightful double-sided map was issued to participants in the 7th National Jamboree of the Boy Scouts of America, held at Farragut State Park in Idaho. One side of the map highlights the rich history of the United States. State borders are completely omitted in favor of numerous vignettes representing notable events. The invention of the telegraph, the discovery of gold in California, and rocket launches in Florida are just a few examples depicted by the charming drawings.

The verso shows the grounds at Farragut State Park. Various camp activities are denoted by symbols within the image, signed Brautigam at the bottom. This probably refers to Don Brautigam, who would go on to design dozens of famous covers for albums and books. An inset map shows the location of the park in relation to nearby Coeur D’Alene.

Published in 1969 by Leader Printing of Coeur D’Alene and sponsored by the Pepsi-Cola Company.
