Description

This beautiful interpretation of La Habra’s rich culture and history was drawn by Gil Ortega and is dated 1975, next to the artists’ signature in the lower right. It was prepared by the La Habra Old Settlers Historical Society (operators of a local museum today), and is a wonderful example of how cartography can be used to express a breadth of styles and information.

The artwork presents a mix of Native American and Spanish cultural influences, though scattered oil derricks break the otherwise idyllic scenery. Numerous vignettes capture a variety of historical locations, over 100 of which are listed on the right side of the page. Modern addresses are also provided, where applicable; allowing a local audience to walk in the footsteps of the past.

Scarce, with no copies found in WorldCat or Rumsey.
