This lovely promotional map of the Hawaiian Islands shows the archipelago in a fun, attractive style. The primary roads and aviation routes in operation by Hawaiian Airlines are shown in black and red, respectively, while the main ocean liner routes are identified with white dotted lines. Each of the islands – Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Lanai, Molokai, Maui, Hawaii, and even Kahoolawe are carefully illustrated and contain colorful vignettes showcasing flora, fauna, recreational activities, and geographic features.

Important means of transportation ranging from outrigger canoes to the Boeing 747 are also shown throughout the image. The title cartouche is surrounded by a decorative floral border while an elaborate compass rose can be seen in the upper right.

The verso presents photographs and brief summaries of the primary islands and promotional information for Hawaiian Airlines. Published in Honolulu by Hawaiian Airlines in 1963, based on the verso text “Hawaiian Airlines holds the world’s safety record – representing over 33 years of perfect safety performance!” (The airline was founded in 1929).
