Description

“Innovative helicopter owners are having fun (and making money!) with more than 700 Aerospatiale helicopters throughout North America. This illustration represents only about one-tenth of our helicopters that are now operational. And it depicts an even lesser fraction of the interesting things they are doing. To our growing list of customers and their ingenious application of our products we dedicate this poster”. – Text, lower left.

This fun promotional map of North America was illustrated by an artist named M. Ward (signature, lower right) and published to advertise the financial successes of the Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation, a subsidiary of Europe’s largest aerospace manufacturer (Aerospatiale). Brightly colored (albeit highly inaccurate) product placement is carefully arranged atop a stylized relief map of the continent. Tourism, VIP transportation, firefighting, broadcasting, cargo hauling, and aerial research are just a few of the fields explored by the sketchy (and often humorous) illustrations.

Likely issued in the early 1980s, based on an erupting depiction of Mt. St. Helens.
