Description

This collection of 19th century Harper’s Monthly Magazine was published between 1863 and 1870 in New York by Harper & Brothers. The contents vary but include a variety of contemporary stories, advertisements, poems, illustrations, editorials, and more. The available issues are as follows: October 1864, November 1864, October 1868, April 1863, January 1864, March 1864, August 1864, March 1863, May 1870.

Harper’s is the second-oldest continually published monthly magazine in the United States (after Scientific American). An interesting group that highlights domestic interests during a pivotal period in American history; the Civil War and Reconstruction.
