Description
This appealing map and souvenir of the Cincinnati Zoo was drawn by Wilma Gunn and originally sold for 5 cents during the 1940s (see front cover for price and adorable chimps riding a bicycle). The central image presents a colorful and easily understood ground plan of the historical zoo, which first opened in 1875 and remains one of the finest in the country.
Nearly 50 different locations are numbered and identified below, with #27 (the African Veldt) standing out as a particularly amusing vignette. The presence of the Deer Line (#15 – 17) and the absence of the Fleischmann Memorial Aquarium indicate a probable publication range of 1942 – 1950.
