This stunning view of the metropolitan area of New York City was published by National Geographic Magazine in 1933. According to explanatory text on the verso of the sheet, the aerial photograph was taken by Captain Albert Stevens from a U.S. Army airplane at 26,000 feet. It purports to show an area exceeding 3,000 square miles in size and encompassing a population of nearly 10 million individuals.
