Description
This dramatic, almost propagandist, map uses color to highlight the threat of global communism to the world. The bold red of the Communist Alliance can be seen splashed across most of Asia, while arrows reflecting Armed Red Pressure reach to nearly every corner. The shade shifts to orange for countries that exhibit trouble and tension, while nonaligned nations are shown in yellow. Allied Free Nations are colored in green and show the strongholds of western Europe and the Western Hemisphere.
However, the map also shows cracks along the wall of democratic capitalism. In particular, the Red Regime in Power in Cuba is shown as a springboard for further Communist growth in Central America. This tension would come to a boiling point the same year this map was published with the confrontation known as the Cuban Missile Crisis.
