Description
This rare map of Glacier National Park was published in 1952 by the Great Northern Railway to promote passenger traffic along its lines. An abstract view of the park emphasizes the rugged terrain, local attractions, and transportation options with a number of illustrated vignettes. Seven different options for accommodations are also drawn and labeled.
The park is half of the Glacier-Waterton International Peace Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Canadian portion is relegated to the background – presumably because it wasn’t serviced by the lines of the Great Northern! An inset map in the lower right and on the verso, along with text and photographs, provides further encouragement to visit America’s Mountain Vacation Land.
