Description
This detailed color lithographed map of the United States was published by Rand McNally & Company in Chicago in 1929 to promote the network of the Union Pacific Railroad System. Single and double-tracked routes of various operators and connections are identified according to the legend in the lower right, while competitors’ railways are noted with a diminutive black line.
National Parks and Forest Areas are highlighted throughout the image and insets in the lower corners show the connections across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Text and photographs printed on the verso provide additional advertisements and information on the nation’s scenic beauty, accessible along the lines of the Union Pacific.
