Description
This promotional volvelle was published c. 1935 and contains principal statistics (capitol, population, largest city, number of counties, etc.) of the 48 states and the District of Columbia. Each states nickname can be seen on the outer dial, while blank spaces are populated with the relevant data in the inner dial upon selection. A photograph and the slogan of Mahlon Haines can be seen flanking the inset map showing the location of each state at the top. He was a successful shoe salesman in Pennsylvania best known for building the Haines Shoe House off Route 30.
