Description

This dense flowchart/chronology outlines nearly 700 years of political history for the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily. It begins with the Norman unification of southern Italy in the late 1130s and concludes with the reign of Ferdinand I, who would be crowned the King of Two Sicilies in 1816. Accompanying text describes major events and leaders and even includes a recommended bibliography.

In addition to a helpful visual aid, the chart provides a subconscious affirmation of imperial authority after the French Revolution. Published by John Barfield in a London edition of Lavoisne’s Complete Genealogical Historical Chronological and Geographical Atlas, probably between 1814 and 1821.
