Description

This is a fantastic “travel map of festivals, pageants and special events” issued (and accessible) by the Greyhound Lines. Events in nearly every state are accompanied by attractive representative illustrations. Multiple themes are celebrated within the map. America’s diversity is highlighted with galas like Tulip Time (Holland, MI), the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremony (Gallup, NM), and the Old Spanish Days (Santa Barbara, CA).

A fascination with the West, love of sporting events, and pride in historical heritage are also all evident from the image and remain integral components of the American identity today. An inset map of the various routes served by the Greyhound Lines is provided in the lower left, allowing the reader a practical method for attending the various events.

They are listed on the verso, along with the local Greyhound offices. Promotional text and photographs advertise Greyhound services and amenities. The map was illustrated by M.E. Bush and published by Greyhound Lines in 1949.
