Description

This colorful mid-century city plan of Fort Worth, Texas shows a detailed outline of ‘Cowtown’ and the surrounding suburbs. The latter are highlighted in pink, while parks, golf courses, and other outdoor recreational areas are colored in green and the extent of the city limits remain white. Schools, points of interest, and commercial fishing camps are identified according to the legend in the lower left, and important buildings like Texas Christian University, the court house, post office, and fairgrounds are outlined and labeled.

An inset in the center-right shows the route to the Greater Fort Worth International Airport, while at least four other airfields are also named – Midwest Airport, South Fort Worth Air Terminal, Meachan Field, and Carswell Air Force Base. The verso of the map presents a comprehensive street index and a simple street plan of downtown Fort Worth.
