Description

According to text in the lower left, “this map portrays 19th century America and some of Old Crow’s more famous admirers. These great men – indeed, all America of the 19th century – welcomed Old Crow. It was America’s first great whiskey and, as our land has grown, Old Crow’s reputation has grown along with it.”

The black and white pictorial map features exaggerated illustrations of the various industrial, agricultural, and cultural elements that defined the early United States. Portraits of several notable Americans, apparently drinkers of Old Crow, are included throughout the image; Walt Whitman, Ulysses Grant, Mark Twain, and Henry Clay among them.

Published in the September 25, 1962 edition of The Southwest American.
