While their utility may be questionable today thanks to the ubiquity of GPS and a myriad of transportation apps, printed route maps and schedules once ruled the roads for both commuters and private drivers alike.

This midcentury container would have held folding pamphlets outlining the various bus routes in operation across Evanston – a suburb just north of Chicago. Its sturdy construction facilitated its decades of survival, during which it transformed from an integral part of the transportation infrastructure to a quaint novelty.
