Europe on the brink of the French Revolution.

Description
This interesting antique map of Europe was created by French cartographer Rigobert Bonne and published around 1787 in Paris. Topography is somewhat clumsily depicted with pictorial mountains while primary cities, political units, and geographic features are labeled throughout. The static image fails to show the simmering political tensions, dissatisfaction with absolute monarchy, and economic hardships permeating much of the lower classes during this period. Enlightenment ideas fuelled these resentments, resulting in the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1789.
