The Masters of the Universe franchise, created by Mattel in the early 1980s, began as a successful line of action figures inspired by an adventure-packed blend of fantasy and science fiction. The fight between He-Man and his nemesis, Skeletor, for control of the Planet Eternia grew into a franchise anchored on a popular animated series, with comic books, video games, and more.
This Masters of the Universe map was published by Mattel, Inc. in 2009 to promote their new line of Masters of the Universe toys – a throwback to the 80s origins. The large map presents the homeworld of He-Man, Eternia, under the reign of King Randor (his father). The planet is divided into two hemispheres – light and dark – topped by the Ice Mountains. A variety of geographic features and locations of interest are depicted pictorially and labeled, including Castle Grayskull, Eternos Palace, Avion, and Snake Mountain.
