This map was designed to let New Yorkers of Irish heritage trace their roots back to the Emerald Isle for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Dozens of names from prominent families and the their corresponding titles are listed across the country (Northern Ireland in red).

A caveat in the lower right notes; “If your name is Irish but is not on the map, the reason is probably that no records of your family’s place of origin exists.”

Designed by Edwin Sundberg and issued in the March 10, 1957 issue of Sunday News.
