Description

This small commemorative volume celebrates the first six months of occupation duty performed by the United States Eighth Army in Japan. It covers between late August, 1945 (two weeks after V-J Day) to the beginning of May the following year. During that period, the Eighth occupied the northern part of Honshu, including Tokyo, and the island of Hokkaido.

The booklet contains 11 pages of text that offer a brief history of the occupation organization and a summary of the various responsibilities. Photos of MacArthur and Eichelberger are accompanied by three chronological maps of Japan that locate the various Eighth Army units across the country.
