Description
“…The World of KAMANDI!!! After a great natural disaster has changed the course of all previous history.” – Subtitle.
Created by the talented Jack Kirby, Kamandi is a fictional comic book character who survived an apocalyptic event to become the sole surviving human on a drastically altered Earth. The world is dominated by highly intelligent anthropomorphic animals and is based heavily on the Planet of the Apes. This pictorial map gives the audience a vibrant impression of the chaos that has taken place since the ‘Great Event.’
Though Earth’s ‘modern’ geography can be detected, cataclysmic events include the fracturing of South America, a radiation barrier in North America, and a gigantic vortex in the Indian Ocean. Various kingdoms and inhabitants are also labeled, presenting an amusing political mishmash that would make George Orwell proud. Notable examples include a Communi-Bear Silo State in former China, the Kanga Rat Murder Society in Australia, and Snow Wizards in Scandinavia.
