Description
This rare and ephemeral map shows a large portion of eastern Colorado around Cheyenne and Kiowa counties. The relatively flat, grassy plains had been popular among cattle ranchers since the mid-19th century, though enclosure efforts largely ended the open range by 1900.
The map shows the various ranches of the Eads Livestock Company owned by Western Properties, Inc. Manuscript annotations identifying use by individual families are noted in several of the deeded lands plots. Difficult to date, though it’s likely the Patterson Building referenced below the title refers to the structure on Welton Street in Denver constructed in 1922.

Condition Description: A former lost cause has been professionally restored and mounted on linen for preservation. The remains significant discoloration and wear from old cellophane tape applied along the horizontal centerfold. Bits of paper loss as a result. Includes custom annotations from a previous owner in red, blue, and black inks.
