This pair of photographs highlights the extensive damage endured by the city of Duren in western Germany during World War II. Nearly 15% of the resident population was killed during a massive bombing raid in November 1944. The verso shows a variety of political maps that provide up-to-date information on various war fronts across Europe and the Pacific.
The sheet was published in January 1945 by the Army Information Branch and issued as an Overseas Edition in the NEWSMAP series.
