Description

This detailed map of Columbus shows street names and numbers that will help easily orient the reader according to Dreher’s “Simplex Street and House Number Guide.” This system of urban navigation is covered in full in the accompanying book, which doubles as reference and city glossary.

The map shows numerous methods of transportation, city and township boundaries, and major locations of interest; while a lengthy street index can be seen on the left side of the sheet. Overlaid in orange ink are incremental mileage references and ward numbers. The verso of the sheet features a map of the suburbs of Columbus and Franklin County, as well as an inset map of downtown.

The map and accompanying guide were published locally in 1944 by D.F. Dreher & Company. An interesting and comprehensive look at wartime Columbus.
