Description

A scarce view of the city of Evanston published during the late 1960’s. Principal streets and buildings are listed, including Northwestern University, Fountain Square and the Municipal Building. Always a hot commodity, parking is also prominently shown. The Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Station is now the Evanston Davis Street Metra Station, while the “L” station depicted is still in use. Lindheimer Observatory, demolished in 1996, is shown at the top of an empty (and recently completed) Northwestern University Lakefill.

Includes a large scale map of downtown on the verso, with profiles of over two dozen prominent buildings and attractions in the city. Drawn by John Wright (no relation) and published by the Evanston Chamber of Commerce.
